Day 86 of 365

Day 86 of 365
Day 86: what is the difference between living and existing?
A great poet friend, Blakk Dahlia, once purchased me a book by Buddy Wakefield called “Live for a Living”. While, I didn’t enjoy the book as much as I thought I would, I definitely enjoyed the conversation that led to her purchasing this book for me.
I think that existing is simply doing what you have to do to be alive the next day. I think that living is making sure that you do what you want to do to be happy.
I have always wondered if I made the right decisions when I was faced with forks in the road. I am not sure that I always have, but I am sure that I made sure I always made time to be happy. I have a lot of dreams and I can’t say that I will be able to achieve all of them, if any. But, I can say that I will never let work become the only thing in my life. I will always find time for poetry and friends and natural hair. To me that is the difference between existing and living.

Day 16 of 365

Day 16 of 365
Day 16: Someone you trust.
For some people this would be considered a hard question due to lack of trust, for me it is hard because I trust all the people that are closest to me.
I’m not sure what the rules are in this situation.
So I’ll just list them, lol.
I trust:
My girlfriend
My sister
& My best friends.

Day 13 of 365

Day 13 of 365

Day 13: your favorite quote
Ink runs from the corners of my mouth.
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.

This is my favorite quote because it nearly summarizes how i feel during the happiest moments of my life and a feelig that I hope to feel as much as possible.

Day 11 of 365

Day 11 of 365
Day 11: the worst advice you’ve ever heard, or ever been given
O.M.G. This has to be the easiest of all the questions of the 365 days.
The absolute worse advice that I have ever heard was on Love & Hip Hop, I know, I shouldn’t be surprised but still.
Emily was talking to one of those girls about being in a relationship with Fabulous and having to deal with being felt unwanted and his infidelity.
Then her "friend": said to her, something to the tune of:
“Well you knew what you were siging up for when you started dating him, this just comes with the territory."
If one of my friends ever ever ever ever evvverrr said something like that to me, they would find themselves sitting on the same corner as the person cheating on me as I dropped them both out my life. This sounds like the same woman that would ask what you did to make your spouse hit you instead of helping me escape the fists.
I’ll pass!

Day 6 of 365

Day 6 of 365

Day 6: something you would like to change about yourself

Something that I would like to continue to work on changing about myself would be my self doubt.

Day 5 of 365

Day 5 of 365

Day 5: something you would change about the world

If I had the ability to change something about the world, it would be the lack of understanding that we possess for one another.
I think that the only way that we could demolish uncalled for violence and hatred would be if we were truly able to put ourselves in each other's shoes and understand one another.

Day 4 of 365

Day 4 of 365

Day 4: how you think your life would change if you achieved your dream

I think that my life would change if I achieved my goal because it would give my undeniable hope.
One of my goals was to become a better slam poet, allowing me to become a better poet in general.
So, I dedicated myself to monthly slams and I went from being knocked out in the first round to winning my local slams.
But, most importantly it gave me the courage to go to Southern Fried 2013 and slam like I never thought I could.
I have been working on being a seen poet and not just a scene poet.
Making it to final stage with my team, The Misfits, made me feel like all the work that I have been doing and am continuing to do on myself as a person and a poet is not in vain.
Achieving my other goals will make me feel like that about my life in general!
